Improving Asthma Care Together

If you work with children and young people it is important that you have an understanding of asthma. Being aware of the condition and its triggers can help to ensure that individuals with asthma in your care are safe and can get involved in the same activities as any other child or young person without issue or harm.
This module aims to help you support children and young people who have asthma by:
- Raising your awareness of the condition and how it is managed
- Exploring plans you may need to ensure that individuals with asthma in your care are supported
- Identifying ways in which you can work in partnership with parents, carers, and healthcare professionals to support children and young people with asthma
The Improving Asthma Care Together eLearning is aligned to the Tier 1 Capabilities set out in the National Bundle of Care for Children and Young People with Asthma. We encourage anyone who supports children and young people to complete this module. This may include, but is not limited to:
- teachers and school support staff;
- youth workers;
- children’s group leaders (e.g. wraparound and holiday clubs, uniform groups, sports and hobby clubs);
- staff working in Children and Family Centres;
- social care and housing staff;
- parents, carers, and friends of young people with asthma.
We recommend that you work through the module sections in order. At the end you will be able to download a certificate of completion for your records.
